Well we finally moved in. The move in day was chaos, with tradies finishing the caulking, plumbing and cleaning as we tried to manoeuvre our furniture in. The downpipes weren’t completed until weeks later, so we lived in a sea of mud for ages.

We finally got a certificate of occupancy more than a month later, and only after I personally chased the building surveyor.

Now it’s the defects. Of course no newly built house is going to be perfect on day 1, and there’s a 3 month period specified in the contract to resolve any glitches. But now we’re more than 6 months later and there’s still a list of unresolved items, some of which are quite substantial, like missing underfloor panels, and a screen door that just hasn’t been supplied!

  1. I feel your pain, I have just taken Archiblox to the department of fair trading NSW for not taking care of the defects on the project they built for us. We have been in for nearly 20 months.

    1. I’m sorry to hear that Peter. We’ve now raised a complaint about our defects with dbdrv in Victoria, and hopefully this will eventually force some action.

      I’m hearing of quite a few Archiblox customers in the same boat.

      1. I have meet 3 other clients in NSW in a various states of similar situations. Plus I have meet numerous trades who have not been paid by Archiblox. I feel that something needs to be done to prevent anyone else falling into the same situation. Are you in contact with many others in VIC?

      2. I’ve heard of a few people, but I’m only directly in touch with one other. I think it might be worth setting up a Facebook page so people can share their experiences and offer advice. Would also be good to know just how many people are having similar problems.

    1. Hi Guys, you may or may not be aware, Archiblox went into Liquidation yesterday. For those not in there homes yet this is going to be a rough road. For those of us with defects only, it might get a bit easier dealing with the insurance company.
